Name: Charles E. Trimble
At the time, the local businessman was president of Charles Trimble Company, a national consulting company firm specializing in economic development on American Indian reservations, and of the Red Willow Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing management assistance to Native American nonprofit organizations and remote Native American communities. Trimble is shown standing on a U.S. map separated into Indian nations, holding a war bonnet, arrow and peace pipe and other historical artifacts. He also served on the board of trustees of the Nebraska State Historical Society and is founder of the American Indian Press Association. Trimble, an Oglala Sioux tribe member, was raised on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. In 1983, he served as a U.S. delegate to the U.N. Human Rights Subcommission on Prevention of the Discrimination and Protection of Minorities, in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1985, he was a U.S. delegate to the Human Rights Experts meeting of the Conference of Security and Cooperation in Europe held in Ottawa. In 1996, Trimble was appointed to the American Folklore Center Board of Trustees of the Library of Congress. Back to Top
