No: 55 Date: 12/1/1993 Name: Governor Frank and First Lady Maxine Morrison Nebraska's governor from 1961 through 1967, Frank Morrison continued to be one of Nebraska's biggest boosters. He is shown in the Face drawing standing on the state while wearing Western garb. She is holding a tree indicating Arbor Day. Chimney Rock is part of the picture. Nebraska's No. 1 fans went on to support the state in many ways, including as the inspiration behind the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument. He proposed the archway over Interstate 80 near Kearney to commemorate the settling of the Plains. He taught physics and history and was superintendent of Farwell (Neb.) Public Schools, starting in taught at a rural Greeley school. Both Morrisons died in 2004. Back to Top
