No: 39 Date: 9/1/1988 Name: City Council President Fred Conley Then-City Council President Fred Conley is pounding his gavel to call together a meeting of the City Council. Each City Council member is labeled: Dinzole, Friend, Anzaldo, Tomasek and two council members who were mayoral candidates, Richard Takechi and Jim Cleary. Conley became the council's first African-American member when elected in 1981. In 1991, Conley was responsible for introducing North Omaha Renaissance 2000, which involved social and cultural components and economic development for the area. Today, he serves on the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District board. He is Enterprise Zone Coordinator with the Greater Omaha Workforce Development
