Name: Harold W. Andersen
The Omaha World-Herald's president and CEO at the time is shown cranking giant presses at the World-Herald building. Andersen began his journalism experience as editor of the Daily Nebraskan at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate in 1945. He then reported for the Lincoln Star for one year. Since then, he has continuously been at the World-Herald. The retired publisher now writes a column for the op-ed page. He worked his way up from reporting for the newspaper to the newspaper's top position as publisher. He has held numerous national offices, including as the only American to be president of the International Federation of Newspaper Publishers and the only Nebraskan as chairman of the American Newspaper Publishers Association. The list of awards the long-time journalist and executive has received and offices he has held covers two pages. Andersen has received honorary degrees from five universities and colleges. Back to Top
