Name: Bob McMorris
The impersonation by veteran newspaperman Bob McMorris of Sen. Roman Hruska as "the noblest Roman of them all" was a highlight of the Omaha Press Club Show for years. In the Face drawing, the long-time Omaha World-Herald columnist is seated atop the newspaper's building with "Dr. Shrink"and "Keep Out of Nebraska" signs. "Keep Nebraska for Nebraskans" was an on-going theme he used in his newspaper column. He is typing on an electric Underwood. McMorris is credited with thinking up the Face on the Barroom Floor idea in 1971, when the club's restaurant first opened. The OPC made McMorris a Distinguished Member in 1997, the same year he retired from his job as a columnist for the World-Herald. He died in 2005.  The OPC Foundation is now establishing a scholarship in his name. Back to Top
