Name: City Council Member Mary Kay Green
Omaha City Council member and attorney Mary Kay Green wore a T-shirt that read "I'm In Love With Omaha" during her unveiling. She is pictured in the Face drawing as Joan of Arc riding her theatrical horse with Mayor Al Veys as rear guard. The landmark castles indicate her interest in preserving Omaha's landmarks. One of the first women elected to the City Council, Green came from a political family. Her father was well-known Nebraska Democrat Jimmy Green who served in numerous public offices. She is the sister of John Green, member of the OPPD board. One of the first women's rights leaders in the state, Green was a socially conscious and effective legislator. Back to Top
