Name: Coach Bob Devaney
Shortly before the unveiling, in 1971 Nebraska beat its archrival, Oklahoma, to win its second National Championship, beating Bear Bryant's #1 ranked Alabama (note the bear skin in the Face drawing), 38-6 in the Orange Bowl (note the orange). The 1971 Nebraska team was later voted the greatest football team of all time and running back Johnny Rodgers won the Heisman Trophy. At the time he was inducted as a Face, Devaney was the most winning coach in Cornhusker football history. He also won eight Big 8 championships.  Artist Jim Horan was asked to present it at a luncheon: "But I was so nervous, I gave it to him upside down." It was more satirical than some of today's Faces. There is a domed stadium shown in the background because the state had just put a tax on cigarettes and most of it was going to the University of Nebraska athletic fund. The funds eventually went to build the Devaney Sports Center. After looking at the Face, Devaney mused, "There's more here than meets the eye, isn't there?" He was NU head football coach 1962-1972 and athletic director 1967-1992. Devaney died in May 1997.
