No: 88 Date: 10/1/2002 Name: Dick Davidson
The then-Union Pacific Railroad chairman and chief executive officer who led UP to become the nation's most powerful railroad was "railroaded" at a well-attended roast. Dressed as an engineer in the drawing, he drives a modern locomotive with an American flag - UP is America's largest railroad. The new UP headquarters in downtown Omaha is shown in the background. The artist included an 1869 coal-burning locomotive, a steam locomotive from the 1940s and a Streamliner from the 1950s and 1960s, as well as representative railroad workers. Two Chamber of Commerce executives are keeping an eye on Davidson, who was Chamber chairman in 2002. The Olympic runners symbolize Davidson's success in bringing the Olympic torch to Omaha. Many jokes revolved around his supposed frugality. The Kansas native, who began his railroad career as an 18-year-old brakeman/conductor in 1960 while attending college, also recently had accepted the Horatio Alger Award. Back to Top
