Name: Charles W. (Chuck) Durham
Charles "Chuck" Durham is shown in the Face drawing with his late wife, Margre, who shared his passion for philanthropy. He is surrounded by some of the beneficiaries of his generosity: the new $77 million NU Medical Center research building, Henry Doorly Zoo, UNO buildings, including the campanile tower, the Strategic Air and Space Museum and the Salvation Army. When Chuck Durham stopped at UNMC's campus for a doctor's appointment a clerk asked his name. He modestly told her, "My name's on the building." The name of one of Omaha's most generous philanthropists is on many buildings, including the Durham Western Heritage Museum and Durham Boy Scout Center. His success came from hard work that started when he became president in 1950 of Henningson, Durham & Richardson Inc., one of the nation's top engineering and architectural companies. He is now head of Durham Resources, an investment company. He also has been honored with a Horatio Alger award for his rags-to-riches success story. Back to Top
