No: 78 Date: 6/1/1999 Name: Roy A. Smith Auto dealer and civic leader, Roy Smith is a legend both in business and in service to the community. He became president of his father's Ford dealership, H.P. Smith, in 1964. He later become owner of Old Mill Toyota. At the time of his recognition, he had served on major efforts, including the Community Response Team to create UNOmaha's Peter Kiewit Institute and on the Omaha Convention Center and Arena task force. When he received the Rotary Club of Omaha's Free Enterprise Award, the honor said: "He is a generous and caring person who gives of himself to help improve our community and our country." He also received the Outstanding Citizen Award from Woodmen of the World and has been recognized as a staunch supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, which is indicated in the caricature. He has supported the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, the Salvation Army, the United Way of the Midlands, Methodist Hospital and the Omaha Airport Authority.
